Our story
Au Bavarois opened on square d'Albigny in autumn 2018. The bar is run by Thibaud Euler, then aged 30, who decided to bring to his native Annecy the warmth of traditional Bavarian taverns — his father's heritage.
October 2018 — the opening
On 28 October 2018, Le Dauphiné Libéré ran an article about the opening: a new Bavarian bar settling on square d'Albigny. Before launching out, Thibaud Euler trained in the night-club industry, first as a croupier then as a sales representative. With Au Bavarois, he returns to what matters to him: direct, unpretentious contact with the customers.

The Albigny district appealed to him for its lively energy. The bar took root at 36 Avenue d'Albigny, a short walk from the lake.
February 2019 — recognition
Five months after opening, Le Dauphiné Libéré dedicated a feature to the « atypical Annecy bars » and listed Au Bavarois alongside the Recto bar, La Ménagerie, Le Bar y est, Barberousse and the Poney club. The paper highlighted the bar's strong identity: Thibaud welcomes customers in traditional Bavarian brewer's attire (Lederhose), a statement that stands out in Annecy.

The menu expanded: Bavarian draught beers, charcuterie and cheese platters, sweet treats. « Conviviality » became the place's signature.
The identity today
Since then, Au Bavarois has become a landmark of the Albigny neighbourhood: a Bavarian bar by the lake of Annecy, true to the spirit of shared tables and German conviviality. The menu has widened to Alsatian flammekuches, a curated spirits selection and a French exclusivity on the Allgäuer Brennerei range — a craft distillery from Sulzberg (Allgäu).
The bar also hosts its own Dart Liga — with an ELO ranking, weekly tournaments and a community of players — and poker nights every Tuesday. A place you come to for a drink and stay for the table next door.
